GREENSBORO - The entirety of the Blue Ridge Parkway will close at 8 p.m. on Friday night.

The entire road and all the facilities on it - with the exception of the Pisgah Inn and Peaks Otter Lodge - will be closed in anticipation of high winds and heavy rains from Hurricane Florence.

Access to Pisgah Inn will be via US-276 only. You will not be able to access the building via the Parkway from the north. Access to the Peaks of Otter Lodge will be via VA-43 only. No access to Peaks of Otter Lodge via the Parkway from the north will be available.

The National Parks Service said in a release all scheduled ranger programs and special events are cancelled, including a several concerts and the "Overmountain Victory Celebration" at the Museum of NC Minerals.

During the closure, all sections of the Parkway will be closed to cars, pedestrians and cyclists.
