GREENSBORO, N.C.-- Friday some proud new Americans were celebrated in Greensboro.

The annual New Citizens Celebration was at St. Stephen United Church of Christ in the City. It is organized by the Senior Resources Center of Guilford County.

Many came here as refugees and are now naturalized citizens. The ceremony recognized individuals for their success over the past year.

Every year 12-20 older refugees become U.S. Citizens with the help of the senior center. The center also assist them on a path to being self-sufficient and independent.

On the Fourth of July nearly 50 people became U.S citizens during a naturalization ceremony in Old Salem.
