Credit cards, yeah, we got ‘em. So that means we have the bills too.
But that monthly payment could really go up if you miss a payment. And we're not talking about just late fees. Lifehacker and Credit Karma got into the numbers:
If you're more than 60 days late on a minimum credit card payment your credit card company could issue a penalty APR. For example, your interest rate was 10% but the late payment now makes it 29%!
That high rate can be applied to current and future balances for 6 months.
Is this legal? Yup. Check that fine print in your card agreement.
